Best Practice to keep your DPF in perfect working order

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is an important part of modern day engines to stop the particulate matter escaping the engine into the air. This particulate matter are fine drops of fuel that are not burnt in the combustion chamber whose surfaces become hard and solid due to a bad mix in the combustion chamber. These very fine particles can be very harmful for the human body affecting lungs, heart, blood stream etc.

During extended driving the engine gets very hot and this allows the DPF to burn off the soot, the DPF needs to reach a temperature of 500 – 600 degrees celsius to allow regeneration (self clean). If your driving style is short journeys or continual stop start in built up areas the engine never reaches this regeneration temperature.

By using Wynn’s DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Cleaner 325ml in your tank this lowers the temperature that regeneration occurs to around 400 degree C thus burning of the soot particles. Wynn’s DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Cleaner 325ml can be used in all diesel engines including diesel hybrids. Add the content to a minimum of 30 litres of fuel, recommended to use every 8000 miles. After adding the product maintain idle speed for 20 minutes and drive for 10-15 miles trying to maintain 2,500 to 3,000 rpm.

A blocked DPF is often the consequence of unbalanced combustion, fuel not burning efficiently. This leads to dirty injectors, dirty turbo and EGR vanes and degraded dirty oil.
