This new E10 fuel is blended with up to 10% renewable ethanol, previously unleaded fuel was only 5%.
Ethanol increases engine deposits and affects the way the car performs, which leads to corrosion and the corrosive formulation leads to deposits which can affect engine efficiency and durability. E10 is a less stable fuel and deteriorates much quicker in the fuel tank.
This can affect the running of the engine and can make starting more difficult if the vehicle is left for any period of time. The new fuel is being reported that drivers may experience a lower fuel economy and a little rough running.
Vehicles registered before 2002 are particularly at risk and a proportion of vehicles registered up to 2011 could be affected. The effects on the vehicles will be very different depending on the driving styles, how often you fill up, how often the car is driven, whether you use Supermarket fuel.
