AdBlue® (diesel exhaust fluid) has been used on Commercial Vehicles since 2006 with specific systems to reduce NOx emissions.
Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel engines have specific AdBlue® tanks that need to be continually filled to maintain the reduction in emissions and reduce harmful gases being released into the atmosphere.
Crystallisation starts to form when the exhaust gas temperature is below 300 degrees, at this temperature the AdBlue® does not react correctly and transforms into crystals blocking the whole SCR system. When the SCR system is blocked the vehicle is immobilised and results in costly repairs and downtime of the vehicle.
